“Families First gives us confidence, emotional strength, communication skills, and healthy behaviors. It helps us grow, and it changes our family in a powerful way.”
When I became a mom again years after raising my older daughters, I felt like I was starting over.
Everything felt different — new generation, new technology, new parenting challenges. I joined Families First because I wanted to learn more and be the best mom I could be for my son.
What I found was so much more than a parenting class.
Through the Power of Parenting program, I met other parents who understood exactly what I was going through. We learned together, shared experiences, and built connections that still continue today. One of the other moms from my group even came to my baby shower.
The program helped me become more patient and confident as a parent. I learned kids need to play. Outside time, imaginary time, creativity. I learned to set boundaries calmly and praise good choices. Instead of reacting with frustration, I learned to pause, redirect behavior, and stay calm.
Families First helped me realize that parenting doesn’t have to be something you do alone. I don’t feel like Families First is just a nonprofit. It feels like a community and a family support system.
What I appreciate most is that the support doesn’t end when the program is over. Through Parent Cafés and community events, we still stay connected, support one another, and continue growing together as parents.
Right now, so many families are struggling with rising costs, food insecurity, housing challenges, and stress. Parents need support like Families First more than ever. Families First gives us confidence, emotional strength, communication skills, and community—it’s amazing. Every parent deserves that kind of support.
Families First helps parents build strong foundations for their children and themselves — creating healthier families, stronger communities, and brighter futures.
“It’s already stressful raising kids, and now there’s all this other stuff going on. We need this support as parents.”
