John Badalament, Ed.M. is the proud father of two young adults, Jake and Stella. He is an accomplished writer, educator, consultant, speaker and documentary filmmaker. John is the author of The Modern Dad’s Dilemma: How To Stay Connected With Your Kids In A Rapidly Changing World and Director of the PBS documentary All Men Are Sons: Exploring The Legacy of Fatherhood and Gender Traps: How Marriage Problems Start In Kindergarten.
John is the Director of Programs for The Fatherhood Project at Massachusetts General Hospital. Most recently he served as the Director of Training and Education at Fathering Together. Prior to joining Fathering Together, he was a Senior Consultant at Orange Grove Consulting. OGC is a women-owned business specializing in research-based leadership development and bias removal.
Over the past two decades, John has spoken and consulted internationally in schools, government agencies, non-profit and private sector organizations. In 2012, John was invited to the White House for President Obama’s Champions of Change Father’s Day meeting with Cabinet Members and national leaders. Again in 2016, he was invited to The White House for the Obama Administration’s first-ever Forum On Men’s Health.
His work has been featured on ABC News, CBS Sunday Morning, National Public Radio, in Ms. Magazine, Psychology Today, Men’s Health Magazine, and The Los Angeles Times. He has been a contributing blogger at HuffPost, The Good Men Project and US News & World Report.
John was recognized in the New York Times by the organization Futures Without Violence as one of their heroes for his commitment to ending violence against women and children. The short film he directed for the organization, Something My Father Would Do: Overcoming Legacies of Family Violence, was screened in the United States Congress.
John holds a Master’s Degree from the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.
