“I am proud to be a part of Families First because of their dedication to strengthening families through uplifting the voices of parents and supporting the development of a successful future for children.”
Alyson joined Families First serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA in July of 2019. Prior to joining Families First, she worked in the nonprofit sector in Rhode Island as a Caseworker for Child and Family Services. She also worked as a fundraising coordinator for Progreso Latino, where she was responsible for organizing their annual gala. Alyson has a passion for working with communities and continues to be devoted to empowering the family unit.
As the Parent Leader and Alumni Coordinator, Alyson is responsible for expanding services and opportunities for parents beyond our parenting programs. Throughout the year she will develop trainings for Parent Leaders to build their professional development and further engage alumni through a variety of regular events.
Alyson received her M.A. in International Relations from Salve Regina University. Prior to her master’s degree she received her B.A. in Global Studies with minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies. It was during this time that she developed a passion to advocate for marginalized families.
