“Someone once shared with me, ‘Being a mother is learning about the strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed.’ This always reminds me to keep pushing.”
Mikeya Kirksey is a longtime resident of Boston, Massachusetts. Born and raised in the Washington, DC, area, she migrated north to attend Johnson & Wales University, and in May 2004, she graduated with a BA in food service management. Mikeya used her trade (and her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.) to keep her involved in many nonprofits around the city.
Mikeya’s journey with Families First started in 2018, when she attended and graduated from the Power of Parenting program. From there she joined the Parent Leadership Academy, and now she joins us as a Leadership Ambassador for the 2020-2021 year.
You can find Mikeya around the city with her two boys at football, working at BPHC, attending church at The Table in Dorchester, or at a gym or field working out! She and her children are proud Bostonians.
