“Positive parenting is one of the most powerful tools in shaping children’s futures. Working for Families First means a lot to me because I know that many children and families are being transformed through the programs we offer. Every time we strengthen a parent-child relationship, we are giving hope to a child, a parent, and a community.”

Magda Rodriguez moved to the United States after receiving her law degree in Colombia, and she worked in the immigration field for several years.
After establishing her own family and experiencing the process of raising her two children, Magda became passionate about parenting issues. She gained experience as a family engagement leader while working for Tenacity, a nonprofit organization offering services in the Boston Public Schools.
Magda joined Families First in 2013 as a Parenting Educator, facilitating parenting workshops in the community. Since joining the staff, Magda spearheaded a new initiative to increase partner organizations’ capacity for family engagement, and she has worked to incorporate family engagement strategies into the core parenting workshop model.
As Director of Programming, Magda played a major role in developing and launching the new Power of Parenting program, including the implementation of an innovative parent recruitment and retention strategy.
