Families First Professional Training Comes to You

All of our professional trainings can be brought to your office and/or community. Whether you are looking for a full day or half day training, we have a variety of programs to meet the needs of your professional staff. Each interactive Families First training offers opportunities for skill building and practical information. Full-Day Training Topics

Please Note: 
All of the topics listed below can be offered in a 3 hour and/or six hour professional training. It is important to note, however, that the programs are designed for a full day or longer and the material covered in shorter sessions will not be as thorough. Please keep in mind that we will make every attempt to work with you to customize and adapt a training to fit the needs of your professional population.

  • Creating Partnerships with Diverse Families (6 hours of content)
  • Working with Parents in Culturally Competent Ways (6 hours of content)
  • Parenting Essentials: What Professionals Need to Know to Help Parents with Discipline, Self-Esteem and Communication(also available in Spanish) **Each of these subtopics can be facilitated as an individual 2-3 hour workshop.
  • Supporting Parents During Stressful and Uncertain Times (3 hours of content)
  • Working with Parents Individually and In Groups(6 hours of content)
  • Leading Interactive Parent Groups (3-6 hours of content)
  • Getting on the Same Page: Effective Communication with Parents (6 hours of content)
    • Sharing Difficult Information with Parents (3 hours maximum)
    • Working with Hard to Reach Parents (3 hours maximum)
  • Bullies, Targets, and Bystanders (6 hours of content)
  • Positive Approaches to Discipline (3 hours of content)
  • Working with Teen Parents (3 hours of content)

 

Two to Four Hour Training Topics

Please Note: The following are not offered as full day training. However, two related topics can be combined to create a full day training (such as Communicating with Parents/Sharing Negative Information with Parents). 

  • Sharing Difficult Information with Parents
  • Working with Hard to Reach Parents
  • Handling Difficult Moments in Parent Groups
