Identity Mapping, our newest qualitative evaluation tool, is woven into our Parenting in Public curriculum (used with shelter and transitional housing sites). Identity Mapping elicits a visual representation of feelings and ideas about parental identity through broad prompts given to participants. The activity promotes both self-reflection and community building, so it aligns naturally with Families First’s culture and goals.

Maggie Yuan, Ed.D, conducted an assessment of Identity Mapping as an evaluation tool and summarized our findings to date. We continue to develop Identity Mapping as one way of gauging and demonstrating Families First’s impact.
