Power of Parenting Education
Insight from a Grandparent
Q: How do you feel after attending a Families First workshop?
A: Refreshed! It is like a breath of fresh air. It feels wonderful to be heard, understood, and validated. Marilyn addresses a lot of the major points that we are faced with on a daily basis. She really "gets it" that it is not a walk in the park.
Q: Can you give an example of a time you put something you learned in a workshop to use and been happily surprised by the result?
A: We’ve established a few more family rituals and recognize the importance of our day trips together. Even though my granddaughter is now a teenager, we continue to read together. I needed to be reminded of the importance of keeping the lines of communication open.
Q: What would you tell friends or family about Families First parenting workshops?
I highly recommend Families First parenting workshops. It gives me a chance to think out loud with other grandparents. Marilyn guides our group in a loving, knowledgeable way that allows us to have some real insights to improving our challenging lives. My hope level raises ten notches when I attend a workshop.
“The Parenting Educator said, ‘stay strong,’ and that spoke volumes to me. I can get emotionally and physically exhausted raising my grand-
daughter. When I think of her reminding us to take care of ourselves, I feel peace and strength.”
