Fighting and Biting: Strategies for Helping Young Children Manage Anger and Frustration

Category: Universal Parenting Issues
Age range: ages 1-5

There are few behaviors in young children that become more emotionally charged for parents than fighting, hitting and biting. Whether the parents’ child has been the one who is acting aggressively or is the victim of aggressive behavior, concerns and questions abound. This workshop helps parents understand the developmental reasons for this type of behavior in toddler and preschool aged children. It also gives parents strategies for helping children manage anger and impulse as well as ways to respond to hitting and biting behavior.
