Families First Parenting Programs builds positive relationships between parents and their children by educating both families and the professionals who serve them through inspiring, hands-on workshops. Our skilled workshop leaders stand beside parents and caregivers to lead them through the crucible of child rearing by transforming their experiences, doubts and fears into the knowledge and confidence they need to build positive discipline, communication, and self-esteem in families. Our training for professionals enhances their ability to better support and engage families. We help communities thrive by strengthening families first. Read about Families First

Support for Parents Affected by Recent Events in Haiti
Like much of the country, Families First Parenting Programs has been deeply moved by the devastating loss of life and suffering that has affected friends, relatives, and communities across the world as a result of the earthquake in Haiti and its aftermath. As Haiti deals with one of the worst natural disasters in its history, how will this affect the thousands of families and children who now have no place to call home, and friends and family members in this country who receive tragic news or are still uncertain about the whereabouts of their loved ones? Supporting the global relief effort and reaching out to members in our community who suffer personal losses are some answers to these questions and can provide a sense of positive contribution, power, and purpose.
During stressful and uncertain times, children and their parents both need an extra-protective layer of ego-strength, resilience, and optimism. We recognize that this is an incredibly difficult time for families affected by this tragedy. Please take some time to review our tips on helping children in the aftermath of a natural disaster. We hope that this handout, as well as other Families First resources, will help you provide comfort and a sense of safety for the children in your life while helping you deal with your own range of emotions.
