Building Resilience in Children

Category: Universal Parenting Issues
Age range: all ages

Parents do a great deal to protect their children from harm. However, no parent is able to (nor should they) protect children from all difficult situations or from experiencing disappointment and failure. Parents can give children the necessary tools to foster resilience, the ability to overcome obstacles and be transformed by adversity. This session explores ways in which parents can help children face the difficult moments in their lives, respond to and learn from them. Parents will gain a deeper understanding of resilience, how it develops in children, and how it benefits them.
